The Spyderco Autonomy folder was built by request from the US Coast Guard to provide a quality cutting tool that excels in demanding situations and wet conditions. This award-winning design has been updated to offer a more wide-ranging cutting tool with the same bullet-proof build quality offering a fully flat ground, leaf shaped LC200N blade and neutral G10 handle design. This version of the Autonomy 2 comes with a fully serrated edge and black DLC coated blade and hardware.

Blade: A utilitarian leaf-shaped blade design is made from fully flat ground LC200N, enhanced edge retention with exceptional toughness and near rustproof corrosion resistance. Delivering better utility in both piercing and slicing performance, the FFG leaf blade is finished with a durable, non-reflective and corrosion resistant Diamond-Like Carbon or DLC finish for discreet use. A fully SpyderEdge serrated cutting edge makes short work of tough, fibrous materials. Deploying via an oversize button on the side of the handle the coil spring driven, out-the-side automatic action offers fast, reliable deployment. Deployment is easy even in gloves. A small trademark SpyderHole and logo are the only embellishment on this workhorse Automatic.

Handle: Thick, peel-ply textured Black G10 scales are and secured to DLC coated stainless liners in a neutral design for multi-use utility while offering a high level of security in the hand. The button and all other metal hardware is made of rustproof material and finished with a matching black DLC coating. Housed in an oversize shroud, the coil spring mechanism can be serviced without dissembling the knife. Button lock operation provides rock solid lock up for security in the most adverse conditions.

Carries via a reversible, stainless steel, tip-up pocket clip with through lanyard hole.

LC200N: LC200N is a high nitrogen, alloyed tool steel produced using PESR (pressurized electro-slag remelting) technology delivering a pure alloy with fine micro-structure. This steel has been used in knives for some time and even longer by NASA for ball bearings. LC200N offers excellent corrosion resistance, toughness and ease of sharpening with edge retention better than other steels with comparable qualities. Maximum working hardness in 60-62HRC range. Also sold as Cronidur 30 or Z-FiNit (Zapp Fine Grain Nitrogen steel).
